📦️ Dropbox Paper

In this video, we share that we are using Dropbox Paper. It is a straightforward solution that allows us to build out these mood boards along with brand strategy. The added magic is that we can invite our client to the doc, have dialogue, and receive feedback right in the doc. Context is king. In comparison, Dropbox Paper does take the design out of our hands; the collaboration and basic functionality more than makeup for the lack of design control.

👉️ Brand Strategy Is Daunting?

Brand strategy is hot right now. But, I think it is because people are just now sharing the ins and outs of implementing brand strategy. YouTube channels like The Futur and Brand Masters Academy have been some big influencers as of late for me. After completing The Brand Masters Academy course, I realized I was already doing a lot of brand strategy. I wasn't calling it out precisely and charging separately for it. I figured it was all part of the design work. There are degrees to brand strategy. In this video, I want to share the process of implementing a fundamental foundation to help guide your web design. By doing this essential work, you will be developing a strategy to position your client's brand and help inform your design—a must-to-do.

Brand Strategy should be accessible and practiced by all designers at varying levels. Your clients' success depends on it! Not doing strategy is like throwing a dart in the dark. You have no idea what you are aiming at or for.

It's not that bad.

👋 Moodboards and Inspiration

Next, we will share how we collect inspiration and create a mood board. Incidentally, you will notice that we are using some of our brand strategies to inform inspiration and cause us to pick some screenshots from our 'Neighbors'. Another cool thing about Dropbox Paper is that you can make comments or put descriptors under your images for added context on the images in your mood board. You add another layer of context that your client can see and help you out later when you are developing your designs.

💫 Final Thoughts

This video details the first step in our process. It's essential to set a good foundation. We hope this video inspires you to start your projects out in a similar way or spark a whole new groundbreaking process (please share). We hope this video will help you implement brand strategy even at this basic level that we are doing. Every little bit counts and adds a layer of context and thinking that leads to great work!

Enjoy!
